Ethan Hawke
Ethan Hawke, born on November 6th 1970 in Austin Texas, first appeared in Top Explorers in 1985, after which he attended Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, but left when he got accepted for Dead Poet’s Society which earned him many good reviews of his role as the shy student Todd.
Soon after, Hawke moved to New York and has since appeared in several productions including Reality Bites and the science fiction thriller Gattaca. In 2001 he co-starred with Denzel Washington in Training Day which led to his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
In Assault on Precinct 13, Hawke plays Sgt. Jake Roenick who is the officer in charge of a police station, just before it will close. Supplied with only a small crew he gets to deal with a diverted transfer of inmates during a blizzard, in order to hold them until the storm passes.
Laurence Fishburne
Born in Augusta Georgia, Laurence Fishburne started acting on his 12th birthday appearing only in television shows like One Life to Live and Pee-Wee's Playhouse. His fist movie appearance happened when he was 15 where he got a part in Apocalypse Now. After this it took until the nineties until he received recognition for his work which boosted his career with roles in Boyz N The Hood, What's Love Got to Do With It and all three parts of the Matrix. While his movies were all getting box office hits, Fishburne also remained active in theaters and appeared in several plays.
In Assault on Precinct 13 Fishburne plays Marion Bishop who is one of the inmates that get sent to Precinct 13 to outwait a blizzard, before they get transferred to their final destination. Marion Bishop is a drug baron and while being held at the station several masked and armed men attempt to free him. This is the start signal for a long and bloody night for the remaining skeleton police crew.
Gabriel Byrne
Born in Dublin on December 5th 1950 Gabriel Byrne went to England in order to enroll into priesthood, but got expelled, after which he started studying archaeology at University College, after which he went to become a teacher. After being asked to set up a drama society by some of his students, his interest in acting was sparkled.
He joined the famous Abbey Theatre and broke through with the Irish soap operas The Riordans and Bracken. After this he moved to the United States where he starred in TV productions of Columbus and Mussolini. He further appeared in Excalibur and the likes until he got the leading role in Miller’s Crossing. The movie's success was his breakthrough in Hollywood, after which Byrne starred in several successful productions like Vanity Fair and End of Days.
Besides acting, Byrne also produced a number of movies, of which In The Name of the Father got him nominated for 5 Academy Awards.
In Assault on Precinct 13 he plays Capt. Marcus Duvall, a corrupt cop that was in league with the Drug Baron Marion Bishop and now wants him dead because he knows too much.
